Scandal is a piece written with the ideas of intrigue, conflict, turmoil and resolution. These concepts can be reflected in human existence from our historic past to modern day news, current affairs and life in general. It is rhapsodic in form and uses the normal Brass Band instrumentation. It aims to exploit the colours of different instruments and groups of instruments. There are no muted sounds only pure tones. In essence it is rather symphonic in concept with many duets, trios and quartets as well as full bodied tutti sections. The main dolce theme has been given quite a few different treatments but brings the piece to a triumphant conclusion.
